Breakups hurt, and the easiest thing to do, is to shut off your feelings. But this will not get rid of the emotions, it will simply repress them and sooner or later things will come up and out. The best thing to do, is to fully embrace your feelings. Let yourself just sit with the feelings and feel them. You see, each emotion has an arc, a life span – let it run its course and move forwards, and THIS is the best way to get over a breakup and change and grow as a person.

Feel and Heal. It really does work.

Just feel whatever you feel. To do this, give yourself permission to just sit and meditate. Relax and focus on your breathing. Breathe in and breathe out and just let those feelings come up and out. You are okay and you are safe to do this. Trust in your own ability to handle things and know that the feeling will pass. The sooner that you allow them to run their course, the sooner you can move forwards, and actually, repressing things simply puts off the inevitable. You HAVE to face things so why not just do it now.

Forgive yourself. You are only human.

It’s common to focus on what you think YOU did wrong. Why? Because when people believe that they did something wrong, they then believe that they can FIX things and chase their ex in order to do this. Just accept that the relationship broke down because both of you together messed things up. It’s not just down to you and you alone cannot feel bad and fix things. Forgive yourself. Then think about how you can work on yourself and be the best person, and partner that you can be. Only once you have reached this strong place, should you consider trying to get back with your ex, and if you decide not to do this, then you will be able to move on and get over your breakup a lot faster through self acceptance.

Work on finding yourself again.

Whether you want to try and get back with your ex, or you want to move forwards, you are going to need to work on yourself. This will make you feel stronger and the rest will just follow. Start with addressing your health, fitness levels, appearance, and maybe treat yourself to a break away. Take care of you. Be your own best friend.
